A Virginia man has been charged with making threatening statements against several high-profile figures, including Vice President Kamala Harris. Frank Lucio Carillo appeared in federal court on Monday, facing serious accusations related to his online activities.
According to court documents, Carillo used the right-wing social media platform, Gettr, to post over 4,300 messages targeting public officials, including Harris, President Joe Biden, and FBI Director Christopher Wray. Among the disturbing content were explicit threats against Harris, with Carillo allegedly describing violent intentions and wishing her a “slow agonizing death.”
One of Carillo’s posts reportedly stated, “I will cut your eyes out,” accompanied by derogatory language directed at Harris. His threats extended beyond Harris, including Islamophobic comments urging violence against Muslims.
When FBI agents visited Carillo's home in response to these threats, he reportedly acknowledged his online activity and expressed a need for legal representation. During the investigation, federal agents seized two firearms from Carillo’s residence: a pistol purchased in 2023 and a rifle acquired this year.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about online threats and the potential for real-world violence, underscoring the need for vigilance in monitoring and addressing such dangerous rhetoric.
