Political Historian Warns Against Democrat Calls to Replace Biden After Debate

A political historian renowned for accurately predicting every US presidential election outcome over the past four decades was asked about calls within the Democratic Party to replace Joe Biden following his lackluster debate performance against Donald Trump.

After Biden's debate performance filled with mistakes, many Democrats began blaming his advisors for inadequate debate preparation, and some even suggested replacing Biden before the election.

Dr. Allan Lichtman of American University, who has yet to formally predict the outcome of the upcoming November election, cautioned against removing the 81-year-old Biden from the ticket.

"It's a significant error," he told CNN. "They are not physicians. They cannot determine whether Biden is physically capable of serving a second term or not."

Dr. Lichtman pointed out that similar concerns were raised about Ronald Reagan, who successfully ran for a second term at the age of 73.

"He won 49 states, so all this talk is misguided nonsense," Lichtman said.

"The same pundits who misjudged the 2016 election are giving Democrats misguided advice," he added. "At the first sign of difficulty, some spineless Democrats want to abandon their own incumbent president. It's astonishing."

Lichtman's forecasting method, based on 13 true-or-false questions known as "keys," remains objective, devoid of personal biases. Developed with mathematician Vladimir Keilis-Borok and analyzing elections dating back to 1860, Lichtman accurately predicted the outcome of nine presidential elections since 1984.

In 2016, while most polls and commentators favored Democrat Hillary Clinton, Lichtman was among the few who correctly predicted Trump's victory.
