President Tinubu Appoints New Leaders to Key Humanitarian and Social Development Agencies

 

In a move aimed at bolstering Nigeria's humanitarian and social development efforts, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of seven key figures to lead strategic agencies and programmes under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development. The announcement, made last night, is expected to enhance the effectiveness of various relief and development initiatives across the country.

Dr. Badamasi Lawal has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA). Dr. Lawal, who holds a doctorate in education, previously served as a commissioner in Katsina State and is set to bring his extensive experience to this new role.

Ms. Funmilola Olotu will take on the role of Programme Manager at the National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office. With a master's degree in business administration, Olotu currently serves as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on state lotteries.

Ms. Aishat Alubankudi has been named Programme Manager for the Grant for Vulnerable Groups. Alubankudi holds a bachelor's degree in community development and brings a background in risk assessment and financial management to the position.

Princess Aderemi Adebowale is appointed as the Programme Manager for the Home Grown School Feeding initiative. Adebowale, who holds a doctorate degree, has served as the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Civic Engagement and as a local government chairperson.

Mr. Abdullahi Alhassan Imam, the new Programme Manager for the National Cash Transfer Office, brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles as chief accountant and bank manager. Imam holds a bachelor’s degree in accountancy.

Mr. Ayuba Gufwan has been appointed as the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for People with Disabilities. Gufwan, who holds an LLB, is also the executive director of the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre in Jos.

Ms. Lami Binta Adamu Bello is named Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). With a Master’s degree in public administration, Bello has served as the Secretary-General of ALGON and held permanent secretary positions in both the Federal Ministry of Health and the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

These appointments are part of President Tinubu's broader strategy to strengthen Nigeria's social and humanitarian framework, ensuring that essential services and programmes are effectively managed and delivered to those in need.
