Canadian rap icon Drake has taken a bold step into the world of sports betting, placing a hefty $500,000 wager on the Edmonton Oilers to win the Stanley Cup.
Drake shared his bet with fans on Wednesday through an Instagram post, including a screenshot from the gambling website Stake, along with the caption, “Oilers are self-explanatory.”
But Drake's betting spree doesn't stop at the NHL. He has also placed a bet on the Dallas Mavericks to win the NBA title. If both of his predictions come true, Drake stands to walk away with an impressive $2.4 million payout.
Known for his high-stakes bets, Drake frequently updates his followers on Instagram about his gambling activities. His success rate has varied, however.
In January, he lost a $700,000 bet on Sean Strickland to defeat Dricus du Plessis at UFC 297 in Toronto. But he bounced back in February, winning nearly $1.2 million by betting on the Kansas City Chiefs to triumph in the Super Bowl.
Drake’s latest wager comes shortly after he experienced a significant loss betting on Tyson Fury to beat Oleksandr Usyk less than three weeks ago.
The Stanley Cup final between the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers is set to kick off on Saturday in Sunrise, Florida, with fans and bettors eagerly awaiting the outcome.
