Finidi George Resigns as Super Eagles Coach Amidst Controversy

On Saturday, the 53-year-old coach tendered his resignation to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

George led the Eagles to a 1-1 draw against South Africa in Uyo and suffered a crucial 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic in Abidjan, putting Nigeria's World Cup qualification at risk.

In a video shared on social media, Collin Udoh, a former Super Eagles media officer, disclosed that he spoke to Finidi after the latter's decision to step down from his role.

Udoh stated, "Finidi confirmed to me that he indeed resigned from his position."

He further explained, "The reason being that he had a meeting with the NFF on Thursday, where they had a constructive conversation about the future plans. Finidi inquired if he would be retained for the role."

Udoh continued, "During that meeting, there was no mention of appointing a foreign technical adviser. However, after the NFF board meeting on Wednesday, the decision was made without his knowledge. Finidi only learned about it when someone informed him after he arrived in Port Harcourt."

"He waited for two days to see if there would be any communication from the NFF, but none came. Feeling unwanted, Finidi decided to tender his resignation," Udoh concluded.
