Javier Osorio Mejia, Sneaker Store Owner and Father, Fatally Shot in Robbery Attempt

Javier Osorio Mejia, a well-known sneaker store owner and father, tragically lost his life in a robbery attempt in SoHo.

The incident occurred around 5:15 a.m. on Greene Street near Broome Street, just outside the Stone Island men’s luxury fashion store. Mejia, 31, was shot in the right thigh during the encounter and succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Bellevue Hospital, according to authorities and sources close to the victim.

Police sources suggest that Mejia may have been targeted in a mugging that escalated into violence. The perpetrators fled the scene in a black car, as reported by NBC New York.

As the NYPD launches a homicide investigation to piece together the events of that early Tuesday morning, tributes have poured in on social media for Mejia, affectionately known as Upscale Cracc.

Complex Sneakers paid homage, stating, "Rest in peace to Upscale Cracc, born Javier Osorio-Mejia, a prominent figure at sneaker releases in New York City for many years. Whenever there was a lineup, Cracc was there."

No arrests have been made thus far, and the community mourns the loss of a beloved member known for his passion for sneakers and his role as a dedicated father.
