Man to Receive Settlement in Fatal Wedding Night Crash: Seeking Justice After Tragic Loss"

Aric Hutchinson, who tragically lost his wife in a fatal crash on their wedding night, is set to receive a financial settlement of approximately $863,300. This settlement stems from a lawsuit Hutchinson filed against several establishments, including bars in Folly Beach, South Carolina, as well as Progressive auto insurance and Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The settlement was approved by Charleston county circuit court judge Roger Young earlier this week.

The devastating incident occurred on April 28, 2023, when Jamie Lee Komoroski, allegedly intoxicated, crashed her rented car into a golf cart carrying Hutchinson and his new bride, Samantha Miller, away from their wedding reception. Miller tragically lost her life in the crash, while Hutchinson sustained severe injuries, including a brain injury and multiple broken bones.

Hutchinson's lawsuit alleged that Komoroski had been visibly intoxicated after drinking at several bars in Folly Beach before getting behind the wheel of her Toyota Camry and speeding at 65mph in a 25mph zone.

The total settlements amount to $1.3 million, although the final amount received by Hutchinson will be less after attorney and legal fees are deducted.

Komoroski, who is currently out on bond, faces serious charges, including felony driving under the influence resulting in death, reckless homicide, and two counts of felony driving under the influence resulting in great bodily injury. Despite the severity of the charges, a recording of a jailhouse telephone call revealed Komoroski expressing optimism about her future, despite the potential consequences she faces if convicted.

As Hutchinson navigates the legal process and continues to cope with the loss of his wife, he remains focused on seeking justice and closure in the wake of this tragic event.
