Massachusetts Jury Contemplates Verdict in Karen Read Murder Trial

Karen Read's trial in Massachusetts has gripped the attention of Boston and beyond, as the jury deliberates whether she murdered her boyfriend, veteran Boston officer John O'Keefe, or was framed by corrupt authorities. O'Keefe was found dead in January 2022, and prosecutors allege that Read hit him with her SUV and left him to die.

However, Read's defense argues that she went to look for O'Keefe after a party, and upon finding him dead, sought help. The trial has featured forensic evidence linking Read to the scene, but her lawyers claim it was planted. Complicating matters are allegations of police misconduct and a web of conspiracy theories fueled by social media.

Blogger Aidan Kearney, who supported Read, faces charges related to witness intimidation. As the trial continues, Read faces the possibility of life imprisonment if convicted.
