Nigeria Shines at African Senior Athletics Championship: Tobi Amusan Leads Women's 4x100m Relay Team to Gold


 Tobi Amusan spearheaded Nigeria's triumph in the women's 4x100m relay, securing the gold medal at the 2024 African Senior Athletics Championship held in Douala on Monday night.

The team, comprising Amusan, Justina Eyakpobeyan, Tima Godbless, and Olayinka Olajide, clinched victory with a remarkable time of 42.76 seconds.

Their West African counterparts, Liberia and Ghana, finished in second and third places, respectively.

Since 2018, Nigeria has maintained an unbroken winning streak in this event at the African Athletics Championship, with Amusan contributing to all three victorious teams.

In the men's 4x100m relay, Nigeria achieved a second-place finish, with Ghana taking the gold medal.

The Nigerian team, consisting of Kanyinsola Ajayi, Usheoritse Itsekiri, Alaba Akintola, and Godson Brume, completed the race in 38.84 seconds.

Ghana secured the win with a time of 38.63 seconds, while Ivory Coast took the bronze medal, finishing at 39.77 seconds.
