Nigerians Honored with Prestigious International Appointments: NIDCOM Reacts

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), has commended the appointments of two Nigerians, Dr. Umar Oseni and Dr. Akolisa Ufodike, to prestigious positions.

In a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols at the Commission, Dabiri-Erewa lauded Dr. Umar Oseni's appointment as the first Nigerian Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Arbitration Centre and Dr. Akolisa Ufodike's appointment as the Deputy Minister of Trade, Immigration, and Multiculturalism in Alberta.

Describing both individuals as outstanding personalities who have brought honor and recognition to Nigeria, Dabiri-Erewa emphasized their expertise and dedication to national and continental progress.

She encouraged them to continue striving for excellence, serving as inspirations and mentors to the younger generations.

The NIDCOM boss noted that the appointments align perfectly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes the advancement of Nigerians both domestically and internationally.

Dabiri-Erewa expressed her best wishes for the successful tenure of Dr. Oseni and Dr. Ufodike in their respective global roles.

Dr. Umar Aimhanosi Oseni, a 42-year-old Edo-born academic, serves as an Assistant Professor of Law at the International Islamic University. He is renowned for mentoring future talents and scholars, particularly in Islamic finance law. With extensive experience and numerous accolades in the field, Dr. Oseni is globally recognized as a leading authority in Islamic finance law.

Dr. Akolisa Ufodike, on the other hand, has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Trade, Immigration, and Multiculturalism in Alberta. He is an assistant professor at York University, focusing on auditing and research interests encompassing public administration, governance, diversity, and inclusion, among others.
