Former Liverpool Star Glen Johnson Urges Reds to Secure Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Future Amid Real Madrid Interest

Glen Johnson, the former Liverpool defender, has advised the club to take immediate action to prevent Trent Alexander-Arnold from leaving Anfield for Real Madrid.

Alexander-Arnold, a key figure in Liverpool's defense, is set to see his contract expire at the end of the current season. With no new agreement in place yet, the 25-year-old right-back will be eligible to negotiate with teams outside of England starting in January.

Johnson, who played for Liverpool from 2009 to 2015, believes that Alexander-Arnold is too valuable to let go for free, especially given the interest from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants, known for their success in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, are reportedly keeping an eye on Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation and could potentially secure his services on a free transfer next summer.

“Real Madrid is a huge club, and if they show interest, it's hard for players to turn them down,” Johnson remarked to BetFred. “Given that Madrid is likely to be competing for the Champions League again, it’s understandable why Alexander-Arnold would consider moving there. It would be a major oversight for Liverpool to lose him for nothing.”

Johnson emphasized that Liverpool should prioritize securing Alexander-Arnold's future to avoid a free transfer scenario. “He’s an exceptional talent, and it would be disastrous for Liverpool to let him leave without a transfer fee. Liverpool must act decisively to keep him, especially with Real Madrid’s interest potentially complicating matters.”

As Liverpool navigates a period of uncertainty, securing the future of one of their star players remains a critical issue for the club.
