Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, has announced that German company PANA Holdings is interested in establishing renewable energy and decarbonization technology manufacturing facilities in Nigeria’s Evergreen City, a green industrial zone. This initiative is set to receive backing from the German government.
During a recent engagement with Mr. Daere Akobo, a leading Nigerian entrepreneur, and the German Deputy Head of Mission, H.E. Johannes Lehne, Ngelale discussed the potential for collaboration. Akobo's organization is noted for its technical expertise in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), positioning it as a key partner for German industrial firms.
The proposed technologies for development in Evergreen City include:
Orcan Waste Heat Recovery Technology: This involves converting unused heat energy from engines and industrial processes into usable clean electricity.
Multi-Phase Pumping Technology: Designed to help reduce gas flaring, this technology enhances efficiency in gas processing.
Mokveld Zero Emissions Control Valves: These components are aimed at significantly cutting fugitive emissions in industrial settings.
Amplified Geochemical Imaging (AGI): A non-traditional technology for evaluating carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) systems.
Decarbonization of Nigeria’s Electric Power Grid: An ongoing agreement between Siemens and PANA Infrastructure to reduce the carbon footprint of the national power grid.
Climate-Smart Agriculture Infrastructure Manufacturing: Development of instruments to support sustainable greenhouse farming.
Continuous Emission Monitoring: Implementation of metering solutions and real-time monitoring dashboards to track emissions.
Ngelale emphasized that while much work remains before these projects move to the construction phase, the partnership between PANA Holdings and Nigerian entities represents a significant step towards realizing President Bola Tinubu’s vision of a green industrial revolution in Nigeria.
The cooperation highlights the commitment to turning ambitious climate goals into practical benefits for Nigeria, with a focus on sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
