Tems Wins Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award at 2024 BET Awards"


 Last night at the 2024 BET Awards, Nigerian singer and songwriter Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, received the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award.

She triumphed over notable artists such as Shirley Caesar (“Award All of the Glory”), Kirk Franklin (“All Things”), Halle Bailey (“Angel”), CeCe Winans (“Come Jesus Come”), Erica Campbell (“Do You Believe in Love?”), Maverick City Music, Naomi Raine & Chandler Moore (“God Problems”), and Kirk Franklin (“Try Love”) with her song titled “Me & U.”

The BET Awards' Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award is bestowed upon outstanding urban contemporary gospel artists, assessed based on sales and the overall quality of their work released during the eligibility period.

Originally named Best Gospel Artist, the award was renamed in 2017 to its current title.

Kirk Franklin holds the record for most wins in this category, with six victories to his name.
