Veteran Nigerian singer, Gentleman Mike Ejeagha, became emotional when he received a visit from a TikToker following the resurgence of a song he released in 2010. This renewed popularity is thanks to skit maker Brain Jotter.
The highlife song, "Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche," which Ejeagha released 14 years ago, had largely faded from public memory. However, Brain Jotter recently featured it in one of his skits, pairing it with a dance move that perfectly matched the music’s rhythm.
The video featuring Ejeagha’s song quickly gained traction. On Instagram, Brain Jotter's video garnered 659,000 likes, while on TikTok, it amassed over 11 million views. The song and the accompanying dance have since gone viral, spreading across Nigeria and even reaching audiences in some Asian countries.
This resurgence has led several content creators to pay tribute to Mike Ejeagha. In one particularly touching video, the elderly singer is seen in tears as a TikToker, @anyigoldtv, presents him with an envelope, presumably containing money, and informs him of the song’s newfound success.
Ejeagha was deeply moved by the gesture, expressing his gratitude and offering prayers in appreciation. This moment highlighted the significant impact of social media in reviving and celebrating the works of veteran artists.
