ABC News has responded to allegations made in an anonymous document, purportedly from a whistleblower, claiming the network worked closely with Kamala Harris's team before the presidential debate against Donald Trump.
The unverified document, which surfaced online, is a sworn affidavit signed by a notary public on September 9. It claims that ABC News provided Harris with debate questions ahead of time and agreed to preconditions that would favor her over Trump. The affidavit was allegedly written by a male staff member who has worked at the network for around ten years. He claimed ABC’s style of reporting has become increasingly biased.
This document, shared just before the debate, has caused significant controversy, especially given that many viewed Harris's performance as a win. The staffer also mentioned that the document had been sent to House Speaker Mike Johnson.
In response, ABC News issued a statement refuting the claims, stating, "ABC News followed the debate guidelines agreed upon by both campaigns, which clearly stated: No topics or questions will be shared in advance with campaigns or candidates."
The accusations remain unverified, and ABC has maintained that their reporting practices during the debate were fair and in line with the rules set by both political teams.
