Cristiano Ronaldo Suffers Viral Infection, Misses Asian Champions League Opener

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been diagnosed with a viral infection, his club, Al Nassr, confirmed in a recent statement. The Saudi Pro League team announced that Ronaldo will miss their upcoming Asian Champions League opener against Iraq’s Al Shorta.

According to the statement, the club's medical team advised that Ronaldo needs rest and should remain at home to recover. Al Nassr expressed their well wishes for his speedy recovery:

“Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t feeling well today and was diagnosed with a viral infection. The team’s doctor confirmed he needs to rest and stay at his place. As a result, he will not be travelling with the team to Iraq today. We wish a speedy recovery to our captain.”

Despite his high-profile move to Al Nassr, Ronaldo has yet to secure a major trophy with the Saudi club. The Asian Champions League, now in its first edition as the Elite version, is considered the top club tournament in Asia.
