PSG Refuses to Pay Kylian Mbappe £50 Million in Unpaid Wages Despite LFP Ruling

French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has reportedly refused to pay Kylian Mbappe nearly £50 million in unpaid wages, despite an order from the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), the governing body of French professional football. The unpaid amount includes missing bonuses and wages from Mbappe’s seven-year tenure at PSG.

The conflict arises from Mbappe's departure from PSG earlier this summer and concerns over whether he could leave on a free transfer. Despite the LFP's ruling in Mbappe’s favor, PSG has confirmed that they will not comply. The club stated that the matter must now be taken to a higher legal authority, where they will present all relevant facts.

PSG also claimed that Mbappe’s legal team proposed an agreement in August 2023 to reduce his bonuses by €55 million for the 2023-24 season, which reportedly led to his reintegration into the squad. However, PSG says the agreement was never finalized or sent to the league, alleging that it was based on a verbal agreement between Mbappe and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

The dispute has been ongoing, with reports suggesting that PSG withheld Mbappe’s wages to avoid paying a significant loyalty bonus promised in his 2022 contract extension. The LFP's legal commission ordered PSG to pay the full amount after Mbappe declined a mediation offer to resolve the issue.

Mbappe, who captains the French national team, officially joined Real Madrid earlier this summer after years of reported tension with PSG.
