Sean "Diddy" Combs Arrested in Manhattan on Federal Charges

Music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs has been arrested in Manhattan and is facing federal charges, according to his attorney. The New York Times reported that Combs was indicted by a grand jury, though specific charges have not yet been disclosed.

Combs' lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, expressed disappointment with the indictment, calling it an "unjust prosecution." He stated that Combs had anticipated the charges and traveled to New York last week in preparation. Agnifilo emphasized that while Combs may not be perfect, he is "not a criminal."

The federal investigation into Combs first became public when Homeland Security agents raided his Los Angeles and Miami homes on March 25. At the time, Combs' defense attorney, Aaron Dyer, criticized the raids as an excessive use of force and described the allegations as baseless.

Combs has been entangled in legal troubles, including sexual assault lawsuits and a federal investigation, over the past year. His once-glittering career as a top US rapper and entrepreneur has been overshadowed by these claims, all of which he has denied. In November, his former girlfriend and protégé, R&B singer Cassie, sued him for sexual abuse, alleging years of physical violence and coercion. The lawsuit was quickly settled, but it sparked a series of similar lawsuits against Combs.

In response to the allegations, prominent institutions have distanced themselves from Combs. New York Mayor Eric Adams has called for Combs to return the ceremonial key to the city, while Howard University has revoked his honorary degree and a scholarship named in his honor.

The fallout from these accusations continues as Combs' legal team prepares to fight the charges.
