2024 Ballon d'Or Winner to Be Announced Tonight in Historic Ceremony

The highly anticipated 2024 Ballon d'Or winner will be unveiled tonight at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, with new faces vying for the coveted title. This year marks the first time in over a decade that neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo is in the running. Between them, Messi and Ronaldo have dominated the award, winning it 13 times in the last 16 years.

This year, the competition opens the door for rising stars like Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, Manchester City’s Rodri, PSG/Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland of Manchester City, who have each shown remarkable form over the past season.

Top Contenders for the 2024 Ballon d'Or

Vinicius Junior: The 24-year-old Brazilian sensation, now wearing Real Madrid’s iconic no.7 shirt formerly held by Ronaldo, is considered a strong favorite for the award. Following a standout season, he helped Real Madrid to a La Liga and Champions League title, scoring 24 goals and delivering 11 assists. Should Vinicius win, he would be the first Brazilian to claim the Ballon d'Or since Kaká in 2007.

Rodri: The Manchester City midfielder is another strong contender. Regarded as one of the best in his position, Rodri played a pivotal role in City's Premier League and Euro 2024 victories. While he may fall short of Vinicius, the Spaniard’s consistent performances and influence under Pep Guardiola have made him a standout for the second spot.

Jude Bellingham: The young English midfielder has also emerged as a favorite, likely rounding out the top three. Bellingham’s debut season with Real Madrid has been nothing short of impressive, and he played a key role for England, reaching the Euro 2024 final. At 21, he represents the younger generation making a mark on the global stage.

Tonight’s announcement will mark a new era in the Ballon d'Or’s history as a fresh face claims the honor and joins football’s elite ranks.
