In the latest heavyweight rankings released by Ring Magazine, Anthony Joshua has fallen to seventh place following his shocking defeat to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on September 21. Prior to this setback, Joshua was ranked third and aimed to solidify his position as a leading contender with a victory over Dubois. However, the fight took a turn for the worse as he was dropped four times, ultimately leading to his loss.
This defeat has allowed Dubois to move up to second place in the rankings, while Joshua's significant drop reflects the impact of the loss. Currently, Tyson Fury retains the top spot, with Oleksandr Usyk, the current unified champion, holding the title of Ring Magazine champion.
Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang are ranked third and fourth, respectively, with Agit Kabayel and Martin Bakole occupying fifth and sixth positions. Both Parker and Zhang have recently enhanced their rankings by securing victories over Deontay Wilder, with Parker placed higher after defeating Zhang in December of last year.
Kabayel’s recent win against Frank Sanchez has propelled him into the top ten, while Bakole impressed with a victory over American prospect Jared Anderson, furthering his rise in the rankings.
Joshua remains in the top ten, narrowly ahead of Filip Hrgovic, the most recent victim of Dubois. Efe Ajagba and Justis Huni complete the heavyweight list.
Looking ahead, Joshua and Dubois are set for a rematch on December 21, with Dubois potentially in line to challenge for the undisputed heavyweight title against the winner. A rematch with Joshua also remains a viable option.
