Grammy-winning artist Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has been declared the most-streamed Nigerian artist of all time on Apple Music. The announcement was made by the streaming giant as part of its celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day.
In Apple Music's list of the top 10 most streamed Nigerian artists, Burna Boy claimed the number one spot, followed by Wizkid, Davido, Rema, and Asake. Other notable artists in the top 10 include Tems, Omah Lay, Fireboy DML, BNXN, and Olamide.
Additionally, Rema’s "Calm Down" remix featuring Selena Gomez was revealed as the most-streamed Nigerian song in Apple Music history. Burna Boy’s hit single "Last Last" and Wizkid’s "Essence" featuring Tems secured the second and third positions, respectively.
Other tracks in the top five include Tems’ "Free Mind" and Burna Boy’s "Ye." Songs like "Location" by Dave and Burna Boy, Rema’s "Calm Down," Ayra Starr’s "Rush," Burna Boy’s "On The Low," and "Come Closer" by Wizkid featuring Drake rounded off the list.
In addition to ranking artists, Apple Music also highlighted the diversity of Nigerian music by spotlighting rising stars from different regions, including 2Baba from Jos, Omah Lay from Port Harcourt, Odumodublvck from Abuja, and Shallipopi from Benin City. The platform praised these talents for representing the evolving landscape of Afrobeats across the country.
