During a Fox News town hall in Cumming, Georgia, Donald Trump amplified his criticisms of Democrats, branding them "dangerous" and "evil." The event, pre-recorded on Tuesday and aired on Wednesday, featured an all-female audience as Trump continued to make controversial remarks, including references to the "enemy from within."
Mocking Kamala Harris and her supporters, Trump referred to them as "sick," "evil," and "a party of soundbites," while labeling them Marxists, communists, and fascists. He further stated that they pose a significant threat to democracy.
In an interview with Charlamagne Tha God earlier, Kamala Harris agreed with the characterization of Trump as a fascist. Her comments followed Trump's statements in a previous Fox News interview, where he described Democrats, including Congressman Adam Schiff, as "the enemy from within," which he believes to be more dangerous than foreign adversaries like China and Russia.
At a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, Harris responded to Trump’s statements, warning that a second term for him would be perilous for America, describing him as "increasingly unstable and unhinged." Trump, when asked about Harris' comments during the town hall, dismissed them as part of Democrats’ “phony investigations” and accused them of "weaponizing the government."
The audience at the event appeared supportive, offering applause to Trump throughout. When asked about the current state of the economy, no audience members raised their hands to express approval, even though inflation in the U.S. has recently fallen to its lowest level in over three years.
Tensions flared when Trump was questioned about access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) following the Supreme Court's reversal of Roe v. Wade. Trump voiced support for reliable access to fertility treatments, calling himself "the father of IVF." However, Senate Republicans recently blocked a bill that would have guaranteed IVF access nationwide.
Throughout the event, Trump veered off-topic to discuss energy policy, his 2016 victory, and Elon Musk. He also criticized Harris, calling her the "worst vice-president" and blaming her for "destroying our country." He repeated previous xenophobic claims made in Aurora, Colorado, accusing Venezuelan migrants of "infecting" the city.
Currently, Trump leads Harris by a single point in Georgia, a state Joe Biden narrowly won in 2020. Early voting is setting records, with over 328,000 ballots already cast.
