Governor Sim Fubara Alerts Local Government Chairmen to Threats of Violence

Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara has raised concerns about plans to mobilize groups of individuals to attack the newly sworn-in local government chairmen in the state. He urged the elected officials to prioritize peace and be strategic in their responses to potential threats.

During the swearing-in ceremony held at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Sunday evening, Fubara revealed that he had received information regarding efforts to gather 20 individuals per unit to confront the chairmen upon their return to their local government headquarters.

In light of these threats, Fubara advised the chairmen to avoid confrontations and to keep the peace in the state. He emphasized the importance of maintaining stability, stating, “If they come with violence, avoid them. The peace of this state is too important to us.”

Out of the newly elected chairmen, 22 are from the Action Peoples Party, while one was elected under the Action Alliance. Fubara assured the chairmen that if they remained patient and calculated in their approach, they would ultimately succeed.

“We have made our promises to our people, and we are committed to leading them to the Promised Land,” he stated, reinforcing his commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Rivers State.
