Khalid Aminu Speaks Out After Release From Detention Following #EndBadGovernance Protest

Khalid Aminu, one of the recently freed #EndBadGovernance protesters, has spoken publicly on X (formerly Twitter) following his release. Aminu, along with Usman Isa Adebayo and Salihu Shuaibu, had been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) for their involvement in protests.

The trio had filed for bail at the High Court on October 4, and on Thursday, October 17, the court discharged them of all charges. The DSS prosecutor applied to withdraw the case, and the judge struck it out due to lack of evidence.

Upon regaining his freedom, Khalid Aminu took to X to share his experience, stating: "Today, the chains of 11 weeks of unjust detention by the @OfficialDSSNG have fallen. Their accusations dissolved before the Federal High Court in Kaduna, where the case against me—rooted in my stand for justice in the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest—was struck out."

Aminu shared photos of himself, both from before and after his detention, showing his emaciated appearance. He commented, "Below is a picture of how I was taken and how I was returned. Judge for yourself."

In a powerful statement, he added: "Though confined in body, my spirit remained intact—unyielding in the face of oppression."

Screenshots of his tweets have since gone viral, sparking reactions from supporters and activists alike.
