Lagos Court Orders Social Media Critic to Delete Defamatory Videos Against Femi Falana

A Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja has ordered social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, to remove defamatory videos targeting renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN). The court also directed Otse to refrain from making further public comments about Falana and his family.

This ruling follows a legal dispute in which Falana expressed his hesitation to pursue a criminal complaint against Otse. The social media critic had accused Falana of allegedly assisting in securing a pardon for popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.

The controversy started on September 24, 2024, when VeryDarkMan leaked a recorded phone conversation of Bobrisky claiming that musician Falz had contacted him during his six-month jail sentence.

In response to the accusations, Falana’s legal team issued a letter demanding that Otse retract his statements and publicly apologize within 24 hours. The court's recent decision reinforces the demand for Otse to cease further defamatory remarks against the lawyer.
