Meta Launches Content Monetization Beta Program for Facebook Creators

Meta has introduced its new Content Monetization beta program on Facebook, aimed at boosting the earning potential of content creators. Launched on Wednesday, October 2, the program integrates three key monetization tools: In-stream ads, Ads on Reels, and the Performance bonus, allowing creators to monetize various types of content such as Reels, long-form videos, photos, and text posts.

This new program simplifies Facebook’s existing monetization offerings, providing a unified approach for creators to earn from multiple content formats. Previously, only around one-third of creators could make money from more than one Facebook-funded program due to different eligibility criteria and availability.

Since 2017, more than four million creators have earned income on the platform, with Facebook disbursing over $2 billion in the past year alone. Meta acknowledged that its current monetization tools have caused some creators to miss out on opportunities. The company stated, "While we’re proud of our monetization programs, we recognize that different eligibility requirements have resulted in many creators not being able to fully benefit."

Revenue from Reels and short-form videos has surged, with earnings growing by over 80% in the past year. The new beta program streamlines the monetization process, enabling creators to earn from various content formats through a single platform. It also offers unified performance insights for easier tracking and maintains a performance-based payout system.

Currently, Meta is sending invitations to one million creators who are already monetizing their content on Facebook. Open enrollment for the program is set for 2025. Creators interested in early access can sign up via the monetization tab in the Professional dashboard or Meta Business Suite. This initiative aims to empower the creator community on Facebook by making it easier and more rewarding to monetize their content.
