Newly Constructed Council Secretariat in Rivers State Set Ablaze by Suspected Political Thugs

The newly built council secretariat in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, was set on fire by suspected political thugs, just hours after an order from Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to withdraw police officers stationed at the 23 local government secretariats across the state.

A video circulating online captured flames engulfing a section of the administrative building of the secretariat. However, the full extent of the damage is yet to be determined, and police authorities have not yet issued any official statement regarding the incident.

This attack comes amid rising political tensions in the state, and investigations are expected to follow.
