Nigeria Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali Hails Mamelodi Sundowns’ Ronwen Williams as the World's Best

Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has praised his Mamelodi Sundowns counterpart, Ronwen Williams, calling him the best goalkeeper in the world. Williams, 32, impressed last season by keeping 30 clean sheets in 46 matches for Sundowns.

Williams’ outstanding form extended to the international stage, where he helped South Africa's Bafana Bafana secure third place at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in CĂ´te d’Ivoire. He managed five clean sheets in seven appearances during the tournament.

The South African shot-stopper’s performances have not gone unnoticed, as he is among the goalkeepers nominated for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award.

In an interview with iDiski Times, Nwabali expressed his admiration for Williams: “I truly believe Ronwen Williams is the best goalkeeper in the world, and not just because we play in the same league. His style of play is inspiring, and I’m not surprised to see him nominated among the best goalkeepers globally.”

Nwabali also highlighted Williams’ consistent performance both at AFCON and at the club level, reinforcing his belief in the South African’s exceptional talent.
