President Tinubu Approves Deployment of Electric Vehicles for North East Development

President Bola Tinubu has granted approval for the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to introduce electric-powered vehicles as a solution to transportation challenges in the region.

The chairman of the commission, General Paul Tarfa (retired), revealed the plan following a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.

To support the initiative, the NEDC is working on building solar-powered grids, ranging from 5kVA to 10kVA, to address power supply issues in the region. In addition to electric vehicles, which have been modified to carry more passengers and goods, electric tricycles will also be rolled out to further ease transportation.

This development marks a significant step towards improving mobility and addressing power shortages in the North East, while promoting the use of cleaner energy.
