Snake Slithers Through Dodgers' Dugout During NLCS Game

During Game 2 of the National League Championship Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers had an unexpected visitor in their dugout—a snake. The reptile made its appearance in the fifth inning of the Dodgers' 7-3 loss to the New York Mets on Monday.

Though the snake wasn't large enough to cause alarm, it certainly grabbed attention. Dodgers' reliever Brent Honeywell jokingly hoped it might bring some luck. “I was hoping it was a rally snake, something to get the boys moving,” he said.

A member of the grounds crew quickly removed the snake, wrapping it in a towel and carrying it away. Fox Sports commentator Joe Davis humorously referred to the incident as the latest "Hollywood hit," dubbing it "Snake in the Dugout," in reference to movies like Snakes on a Plane.

This wasn’t the first time an animal disrupted a Dodgers game. In 2022, a goose famously landed on the field during another playoff game, later earning the nickname "Rally Goose" after the San Diego Padres beat the Dodgers in that series. The goose joined the ranks of other sports mascots like the St. Louis Cardinals' “Rally Squirrel,” who became a good-luck symbol for his team during their 2011 World Series victory.

However, the snake didn't seem to offer the same fortune for the Dodgers. Despite scoring some runs after its appearance, they still fell short against the Mets. Honeywell, who had previously encountered an alligator in a Florida minor-league dugout in 2015, took the incident in stride. “Every now and again, we need some crazy stuff like this,”
