Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has achieved a remarkable milestone by breaking the record for the highest streaming day on Spotify Nigeria. His latest single, "Piece of My Heart," featuring American R&B artist Brent Faiyaz, has made history by becoming the first song to surpass 1 million streams on the platform in Nigeria.
On its release date, the song amassed an impressive 1.016 million streams within a single day. This achievement also marks Nigeria as the 22nd country to have a song reach over 1 million streams on its Spotify chart in one day.
In addition to its success in Nigeria, "Piece of My Heart" debuted at number 90 on the Global Spotify Chart with a total of 1.7 million streams. Overall, the track recorded 2.27 million streams worldwide on its first day, making it the biggest streaming debut for a song by an African artist in Spotify's history.
