LeBron James Announces Temporary Break from Social Media

NBA icon and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has revealed he is stepping away from social media. The league's all-time leading scorer made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram on Wednesday, following his repost of a message criticizing negativity in sports media.

The original post, shared by Rich Kleiman, longtime agent of NBA star Kevin Durant, condemned the persistent negativity in sports coverage. “With so much hate and negativity in the world today, it confuses me why some of the national sports media still think that the best way to cover sports is through negative takes," Kleiman wrote. "I, for one, find it all a waste of breath.”

James amplified Kleiman’s sentiments by sharing the post and simply commenting, “AMEN!!”

Shortly after, the 39-year-old confirmed his decision to take a break from social platforms. "And with that said, I'll holla at y'all! Getting off social media for the time being. Y'all take care," he wrote.

This decision marks a reflective pause for the basketball superstar, who has been an active voice on social issues and sports commentary through his social media platforms. While James has not specified the duration of his break, his departure highlights the increasing toll of online negativity, even on high-profile athletes.
