Zelensky Warns of Defeat Without U.S. Military Support in War Against Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has cautioned that Ukraine may lose its ongoing conflict with Russia if the United States withdraws military funding. Speaking during an interview with Fox News on Tuesday, November 19, Zelensky emphasized the critical importance of continued U.S. assistance.

“If they cut [funding], we will — I think we will lose,” Zelensky stated. “We will fight. We have our production, but it’s not enough to prevail. And I think it’s not enough to survive.”

His remarks come amid growing skepticism from U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, who has questioned the substantial financial aid provided by the Biden administration to Ukraine since the Russian invasion began in 2022. Trump has pledged to end the war swiftly but has yet to offer specific details on how he plans to achieve this.

This week, Trump’s allies strongly criticized President Biden’s decision to allow Ukraine to use U.S.-supplied long-range missiles for strikes inside Russian territory, calling it a dangerous escalation of the conflict.

Zelensky stressed the importance of maintaining unity between Ukraine and the U.S., describing it as "most important" for his country’s survival.

He also suggested that Trump could play a key role in influencing Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war. “He [Trump] is much stronger than Putin,” Zelensky said, adding that Putin’s decisions ultimately depend on the United States’ influence.

“Putin can be willing to end this war, but it also depends on the United States of America much more. Putin is weaker than the United States of America,” he concluded.

The comments underline Ukraine’s reliance on international support and the potential global implications of changes in U.S. foreign policy as the new administration prepares to take office.
