Prince Harry has dismissed persistent online rumors suggesting that his marriage to Meghan Markle is in trouble. Speaking at the annual DealBook Summit, the Duke of Sussex responded to speculation with humor and empathy, while taking the opportunity to criticize media sensationalism and online trolling.
During the live event, hosted by DealBook founder Andrew Ross Sorkin, Harry was asked about public fascination with his relationship and the frequent rumors about their separation. Responding with laughter, he said, "Apparently, we've moved house 10, 12 times. We've apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. It’s just like, ‘what?’”
He added, "It’s hard to keep up with, but that’s why you just sort of ignore it. The people I feel most sorry for are the trolls. Their hopes are built up, and then it doesn’t happen. I genuinely feel sorry for them.”
Harry also touched on his longstanding struggles with media attention and its negative effects. He remarked, “I’ve had a lived experience since I was a kid. I’ve seen stories written about myself that aren’t based on reality. It’s dangerous when people believe these false narratives over time.”
The Duke expressed frustration over how such scrutiny impacts not only him but also his family and others in the public eye. He described the constant attention as “definitely not a good thing.”
Questions about Meghan’s absence from the event were also raised, with Sorkin noting the media's focus on why the couple sometimes attend separate engagements. Harry dismissed the notion that this reflected any trouble in their marriage, reaffirming their strong partnership and mutual support.
Harry reiterated that he and Meghan, along with their children Archie and Lilibet, have no plans to return to the United Kingdom, again alluding to security concerns. This declaration aligns with their decision to remain in California, where they continue to focus on their philanthropic and professional ventures.
