Information has reached the leadership of the United States of Biafra that, over the weekend, Enugu State Governor Peter Mba sent a delegation of traditional rulers to the Sultan of Sokoto.
The delegation, which included HRH Igwe Cyril Ayogu, Ogburu Ugbowu I of Umuopu Autonomous Community and Chairman of the IgboEze North Traditional Rulers' Council, sought peace with the Fulani people despite the ongoing tensions and violence. They also asked for the Sultan's guidance on how to better accommodate the Fulani in Igboland. Furthermore, they made a plea for forgiveness, urging that the Fulani people move beyond the memory of the civil war.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State was present during the meeting. The traditional rulers, alongside their respective leaders, expressed a desire for reconciliation and peace.
