Newborn Dies After Allegedly Being Thrown from Hotel Window in Paris

A newborn infant tragically died after allegedly being thrown from a hotel room window by an 18-year-old American tourist, who is believed to be the baby's mother.

The incident occurred around 6 a.m. at the Ibis Style hotel located in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, on rue des Réglises. Witnesses reported hearing screams and raised the alarm. Emergency services quickly arrived, and the infant was transported to Robert-Debré Hospital in the 19th arrondissement. Authorities also confirmed that the young woman, thought to be the mother, was taken to the hospital as well.

It is reported that the baby was thrown from a second-floor window, with the umbilical cord still attached. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the child succumbed to the injuries. The Paris prosecutor's office later confirmed the baby’s death.

Local authorities, including a magistrate and officers from the minor protection brigade, arrived at the scene, and an investigation has been launched for "homicide of a minor under 15."

According to the prosecutor’s office, the woman, who was traveling as part of a student group, underwent medical treatment following childbirth. She was also placed in custody for further questioning. Authorities are considering the possibility of a denial of pregnancy, and the investigation is ongoing. The exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy are still under investigation.
