A violent confrontation at Cantina Barba in Houston’s Heights neighborhood left three people injured early Sunday morning after a dispute escalated into gunfire, according to police.
Officers say the incident began around 3:30 a.m. when a security guard escorted a customer out of the bar for refusing to leave a bathroom. Moments later, several people allegedly attacked the guard. Believing someone was reaching for a weapon, the guard pulled out his firearm and opened fire, striking two men in the chest and a restaurant employee in the hand.
All three victims, along with the guard — who reported experiencing medical issues — were taken to the hospital. The employee suffered minor injuries, while the condition of the two men shot in the chest remains unclear.
Police confirmed the guard is licensed. No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
