North Carolina Man Charged After Allegedly Firing Shotgun at Amazon Delivery Driver Who Entered Wrong Driveway

A North Carolina man is facing serious criminal charges after allegedly firing a shotgun at an Amazon delivery driver who briefly entered his driveway by mistake, according to court records and local law enforcement.

Sidney Pittman, 23, was charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied property and injury to personal property, according to an arrest warrant reviewed by Law&Crime. Pittman was later released on bond.

What Happened

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on December 14 in Richmond County, when Tashika Trimble, a seasonal Amazon delivery driver, was following GPS directions and accidentally pulled into Pittman’s driveway. Trimble’s 16-year-old son was in the vehicle with her at the time.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Pittman came to the door and told Trimble she had the wrong address. She then backed out of the driveway and began to leave.

As Trimble drove away, Pittman allegedly fired a shotgun at her car, striking the vehicle while she and her son were still inside.

Driver Describes the Shooting

Speaking at a rally alongside local civil rights activists, Trimble said she never exited her vehicle and immediately realized she was at the wrong location.

“GPS directed me to an address and we turned into the driveway,” she said, according to the Richmond Observer.

Trimble recalled hearing a gunshot as she began to pull away.

“I hear little pricks hitting the car,” she said. “I didn’t know where it was coming from.”

Despite the shock, Trimble said she was able to safely leave the area and later completed the delivery.

Arrest and Investigation

According to local NBC affiliate WCNC, Trimble contacted authorities after the incident. Deputies responded to Pittman’s residence the following day, where they allegedly located the shotgun believed to have been used in the shooting.

Pittman was arrested and booked into the Richmond County Jail, where he later posted $200,000 bond.

The sheriff’s office confirmed it is also reviewing unverified social media posts allegedly made by Pittman after the incident that may contain racist remarks, though investigators said those claims are still under review.

What Comes Next

Pittman is scheduled to appear in court on January 8, 2026. No injuries were reported, but the case has raised renewed concerns about gun violence, delivery driver safety, and confrontations involving mistaken driveways and GPS errors.

Amazon has not publicly commented on the incident.
