The Queen Of England Reply A 12 Years Old Boy Letter

Reese Kilbride, 12, from Portmarnock, Dublin, decided to write the letter after learning about the 1916 Easter Rising – and how Irish rebels bravely battled against British rule in their fight for Independence.

Inspired by what he had learnt, Reese decided to pen a letter to the queen – in which he asked for ‘the return of the six counties’ – and enclosed a drawing of himself.

But he was amazed to receive a response from the Monarch – in a letter from Jennie Vine, the Queen’s deputy correspondence co-ordinator.

She wrote: ‘The Queen has asked me to thank you for your recent letter in which you wished to tell Her Majesty that you have been learning about the history of the Easter Rising 1916.’

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Reese’s wishes were not granted, because ‘as a constitutional sovereign, the Queen acts on the advice of her ministers and remains strictly non-political at all times.’

Reese’s mum, Fiona Dowling, had previously instructed him to be ‘nice’ and to ‘address her as your Majesty.’

But even she hadn’t anticipated a response to Reese’s letter.
