Offset, the American rapper, recently made a surprising revelation regarding his relationship with fellow Migos members, Quavo and the late Takeoff. Despite commonly being referred to as their cousin, Offset clarified that he is not biologically related to either of them. During their childhood, the three musicians were actually classmates and began spending more time together in the sixth grade. It was during this period that they grew closer and developed what is now known as the distinctive "triplet flow."
In a recent interview with Variety, Offset confirmed that Quavo is indeed Takeoff's uncle, dispelling any doubts about their familial connection. However, he emphasized that the long-standing belief of him being Quavo's cousin is untrue.
Reflecting on his upbringing, Offset opened up about the absence of his father throughout his childhood. He expressed that his father was nowhere to be found, but despite this, he never harbored hatred towards him. Instead, Offset's life has been shaped by the presence of strong women, including his mother, grandmother, and many influential women within his creative team and collaborators.
Offset highlighted the unique influence that females possess, describing how they can guide and propel individuals to places they might not be able to reach on their own. He acknowledged that strong women have been instrumental in his personal drive and success.
During the interview, Offset also discussed the passing of Takeoff and why he has not publicly spoken about it extensively. He shared that talking about such matters is incredibly difficult for him. The pain associated with discussing Takeoff and other sensitive topics is something Offset prefers to avoid. He admitted that it feels almost unreal to discuss the loss of his friend and that he chooses to keep his emotions private. The absence of Takeoff is a deeply painful experience for him, and he finds solace by navigating his day-to-day life while grappling with the disbelief and the weight of the situation.
