Despite his recent dethronement by the Kano state government, the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has called on district heads to participate in the traditional Durbar event held in celebration of Sallah.
In a circular issued by Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, the Galadiman Kano and a senior councillor of the emirate, on Tuesday, June 11, all district heads were instructed to attend the event accompanied by their village heads, horse riders, and praise singers.
The circular stated:
"We are directing all the district heads of the emirate to come along with their village head, their horse riders, and praise singers for the festivities.
"Additionally, all district heads are to assemble at Aminu Ado Bayero’s palace at Gidan Nassarawa on Saturday, Zhulhijjah 9, 1445, equivalent to June 15, at 11 a.m. for further instructions without delay or insubordination.
"After the day's court sitting, the emir will meet with all the district heads in the palace hall at Gidan Nassarawa to outline the plans for this year's Durbar activities."
Furthermore, the circular mentioned that local government chairmen have been notified to facilitate the smooth transportation of district heads into the Kano metropolis.
