Aisha Yesufu Criticized by Tinubu's Aide for Comments on South Africa Visit

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, expressed on Wednesday that activist Aisha Yesufu harbors bitterness and negativity towards the outcome of the 2023 presidential election.

Onanuga claimed that Yesufu's dissatisfaction stems from the fact that the presidential candidate she backed, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, finished third in the election.

His remarks came in response to Yesufu's commentary on South African President Cyril Ramaphosa's behavior towards Tinubu during his inauguration ceremony. In a video of the event, Ramaphosa appeared to disregard Tinubu while greeting other leaders.

Yesufu commented on the video, implying that Tinubu faced humiliation in South Africa.

In his rebuttal, Onanuga characterized Yesufu and her supporters as uncivilized and pessimistic. Onanuga's post on X stated, "Aisha and her uncouth followers are always swift to pass judgment at any hint of what they perceive as negative towards the leader of Africa's largest democracy. More than a year after the 2023 election, where their candidate placed third, they continue to harbor deep bitterness and negativity, more so than the supporters of the runner-up."
