APC Chairman Labels Rabiu Kwankwaso as a Security Threat, Calls for Arrest

Abdullahi Abbas, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, has labeled Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), as a threat to the state.

Abbas called for the arrest of Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, in response to recent allegations made by Kwankwaso against the previous state government and the Federal Government, as reported by Channels Television.

During the commencement of an 85-kilometre road project in his hometown of Madobi, Kwankwaso accused the former administration led by Abdullahi Ganduje of breeding Boko Haram terrorists. He also claimed that the then APC government misled the Federal Government to destabilize the state and stated that certain adversaries were working against the new administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf in Kano.

Reacting to these allegations, Abbas urged security agencies to detain Kwankwaso so he could identify those he accused of being enemies of the state. The Kano APC Chairman asserted that no threats from Kwankwaso could intimidate the federal government. He also claimed that the forced enthronement of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Emir by the current Kano governor led to the recruitment of thugs armed with weapons, stationed at the emir’s palace, where illicit substances are openly sold, endangering local residents.

“We strongly urge security agents to arrest this man so he reveals the identities of those he claims are enemies of the state working for the federal government to recruit Boko Haram terrorists and insurgents,” Abbas stated.

He further accused the NNPP of having malicious intentions to create chaos in Kano, alleging that Kwankwaso has long been a security threat. Abbas claimed that Kwankwaso runs a movement accused of recruiting youths, mostly school dropouts, to terrorize the people of Kano.
