Edo PDP Expels Chief Dan Orbih, Phillip Shaibu, and Omorgie Ogbeide-Ihama for Anti-Party Activities

The Edo State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed the expulsion of Chief Dan Orbih, the National Vice Chairman (South South), former Deputy Governor Comrade Phillip Shaibu, and former Oredo Federal Constituency representative Omorgie Ogbeide-Ihama.

The party's State Publicity Secretary, Ogie Vasco, announced in a statement on Wednesday that the decision was made during a meeting on Tuesday attended by nine State Working Committee members at the party's secretariat in Benin City.

"The SWC has extensively deliberated on the issue and resolved to expel with immediate effect Chief Dan Orbih, National Vice Chairman South South, and Phillip Shaibu. They also upheld the expulsion of Ogbeide-Ihama from Ward 2, Oredo LGA," Vasco stated.

Dr. Tony Aziegbmi, the State Chairman of the PDP, also confirmed the expulsions in a phone interview with journalists, citing anti-party activities as the reason.

Last week, Shaibu and Ogbeide-Ihama donated their governorship campaign secretariats and other facilities to APC's governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo. Additionally, Chief Dan Orbih was listed among the Board members recently appointed by President Bola Tinubu.

In response to his expulsion, Orbih stated in a phone interview that the committee lacked the authority to expel a member of the national working committee. He dismissed their actions as unconstitutional and driven by ulterior motives.

"They are amusing their paymasters. They have no power to expel a member of the national committee," Orbih said. "When a group of idle persons make unconstitutional pronouncements, it shows their ignorance of the party's constitution. They don't have any power to suspend or expel anyone without strictly following the party's constitutional provisions. That's all I have to say about it."
