Former Congressman Jim Moran has thrown his support behind the Biafra Liberation movement, as stated by Simon Ekpa, the leader of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, through his X handle on Friday.
Ekpa highlighted that Moran's advocacy for Biafra Independence was based on the devastating impact of the 1967-1970 Civil War, which resulted in the loss of approximately two million lives in Biafra, coupled with the ongoing marginalization of the southeast region by the Nigerian government.
Moreover, Ekpa claimed that Moran intends to lobby for US support towards Biafra's quest for independence, citing concerns over human rights abuses, religious freedom issues, and the persecution of Christians by the Nigerian government.
Moran, a Democrat, served as a Congressman representing northern Virginia communities for 24 years.
