A brutal attack by armed bandits in Katsina State has resulted in the deaths of 26 people and left 2 others injured. The assault, which occurred on June 10, 2024, targeted villages in the Kankara Local Government Area.
In a press statement, ASP Sadiq Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, revealed that gunmen on motorcycles attacked Gidan Boka village, killing 15 villagers.
Tragically, the bandits also ambushed a police patrol team responding to the distress call near Kurmeji village, resulting in the deaths of four police officers—three inspectors and one corporal—along with two members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC).
As the attackers fled through Dan Nakwabo village to their hideouts, they killed five more villagers.
Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Musa Aliyu, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
CP Aliyu stated that the police command is collaborating with all relevant stakeholders to prevent further incidents and ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous act are brought to justice.
