NSCDC Foils Pipeline Vandalism Plot in Abia State, 12 Arrested


 The Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in collaboration with the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, has apprehended 12 suspected pipeline vandals in Obiakpo Obuzo Asa, Ukwa West LGA of Abia State.

The arrests and discovery were made possible through credible intelligence. In line with its mandate and the directives of Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the NSCDC Abia Command successfully dismantled the syndicate operating illegal refineries in the state.

According to ACS II Maureen Udugwu, they uncovered a vast network of illegal refineries hidden in the forest of the Obiakpo Obuzo Asa Community, with large quantities of crude oil suspected to be siphoned from a nearby vandalized pipeline.

During the operation, large quantities of petroleum products in various stages of processing were also seized.

Parading the suspects in Ukwa West, SC Jamilu Aliyu announced that 12 individuals were apprehended at the scene of the illegal activity.

The command stated that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in this criminal enterprise, which poses a serious threat to the nation’s economy.

The Abia State commandant of NSCDC, U.I. Alfadarai, reaffirmed the corps' commitment to eradicating criminality in Abia State and beyond. He warned all criminal elements operating within the state to cease their illegal activities or face the full wrath of the law.

Alfadarai also urged the public to collaborate with NSCDC by providing credible intelligence that will aid in apprehending criminals
