Cars and funds belonging to the late Jabila Kammangar, a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) operative, have reportedly been misappropriated by certain police officers in Rivers State, according to multiple sources.
Kammangar's demise occurred shortly after his arrest and public presentation by the Rivers State Police Command for alleged involvement in armed robbery, as well as the hijacking and diversion of food trucks to other destinations.
The spokesperson for the Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, had indicated that Kammangar and four soldiers were apprehended on May 25, 2024, following information received from a reliable source.
Sources have revealed that during his time in custody, Kammangar was allegedly denied access to his relatives, a situation that persisted until his passing last week.
Police insiders identified the implicated officers as CSP Bello, Inspector Andrew, and Inspector Chimize. These officers purportedly confiscated the deceased's vehicles and money from his residence but failed to surrender them as evidence to the police authorities.
Regrettably, certain officers implicated in this case warrant investigation. CSP Bello, Inspector Andrew, and Inspector Chimize are reportedly involved in the misappropriation of assets seized from the deceased NSCDC officer. The missing items, which were not brought to the station or returned to his family, are suspected to have been converted for personal use or sold off.
Additionally, allegations have surfaced regarding the unwarranted shooting of two innocent civilians. Such actions contradict the desired conduct expected from law enforcement personnel.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson for the Rivers State Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, have been unsuccessful as calls placed were unanswered and not returned.
