Florida Man Charged After Six-Year-Old Dies Locked in Hot Car

A tragic incident unfolded when a six-year-old girl tragically passed away after allegedly being left locked inside a hot car by her mother's boyfriend while he went to work.

Markise Outing, 24, brought the girl, who was unconscious and potentially in cardiac arrest, to Southern Manatee Fire Department Station 2 in Bradenton, Florida, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Initially, Outing claimed the girl overheated while playing at a park, as reported by WWSB. Her body temperature was recorded at a dangerous 107.2 degrees Fahrenheit. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital later the same day, May 20.

On June 25, Outing was arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter. Investigators discovered through GPS data that the girl had been in Outing’s car in a parking lot outside his workplace for several hours, contradicting his initial statement about the park. Furthermore, inconsistencies were found in his account of the events.

Investigators determined that Outing picked up the girl from school and brought her to his workplace parking lot around 2:45 pm. Allegedly, he left her inside the vehicle with the windows closed, causing the temperature inside to exceed 115 degrees Fahrenheit. The autopsy confirmed her cause of death as extreme heat.

Outing has since been detained in Manatee County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
