Governor Alex Otti Welcomes Rescued Abducted Children in Abia State

Governor Alex Otti has welcomed the three children—Gideon, Divine, and Israel—who were abducted in Ama Ime, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State on May 10, 2024. The children were rescued by security agencies in coordinated efforts across Anambra and Delta states.

Governor Otti, receiving the children along with their parents and well-wishers at his residence in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA, expressed gratitude to God and to everyone involved in securing their release. He urged parents to be more vigilant about their children’s whereabouts in the future.

Otti commended the security operatives for their successful rescue operations and stressed the importance of prosecuting everyone involved in the abduction to serve as a deterrent.

The governor also pledged government support for the rescued children. He highlighted his regular engagements with the Nigerian Armed Forces to maintain a strong security presence in Abia, aiming to enhance safety and boost economic activities.

“I have informed criminals that this state cannot accommodate both them and us. One of us must leave, and it won’t be me because I have the people's mandate and God's support. The criminals will be the ones to flee, even before being pursued, and that is what we are witnessing,” Otti stated.

Ikwuano LGA Chairman, Osinachi Nwaka, recounted the rescue operation, noting that it was carried out in three stages. He personally led the first rescue mission in Ekwulobia, Anambra State, despite the risks involved.
